MA E-Folio Resources
The final Capstone project in the Criminal Justice Program is a culmination of all of your coursework in the program--an E-Folio.
Simply put, the E-Folio fulfills the same objectives as the "traditional" Capstone, but each assignment is built into the program so that students are not left with a giant hurdle at the end. By design, important components of various courses and specific CJ content areas are incorporated into the E-Folio, leaving no "gaps".
You?ll have opportunities to incorporate specific research projects/papers into the E-Folio.
The E-Folio is based upon best practices. The department reviewed existing literature, consulted with other departments who have pioneered the process, and listened to student and faculty feedback. Research supports the use of a learning Portfolio to develop reflection, critical thinking, and lifelong learning skills.
What if you want to pursue a "traditional" research project? Some students may enter the program with a desire to study a specific topic, solve a problem at work, or conduct a specific research project. While you would not create a research project outside of the E-Folio, the coursework is flexible enough that you *could* incorporate your topic of interest throughout various papers/ coursework in classes, and your E-Folio might showcase your knowledge in a specific area (i.e., your papers may focus on one theme in the CJ system, such as racial profiling, use of force, etc.).
