1979 – Narrated and produced recording for a filmstrip “To Fly” written and photographed by Joanne and Ben Marxhausen (Music by John Eggert). Distribution through Concordia – St. Paul. (CSP)

1979 – Produced filmstrip for Iowa West District of the LCMS on foreign mission support. District distribution.

1980 – Produced and edited the Confessing Christ Filmstrip Series – distributed in the Minnesota North and South Districts and to the High Schools, Colleges and Seminaries of the LCMS both here and abroad. Copyright © 1980 by Jeffrey E. Burkart, Robert Kolb and Robert Rickles.

1980 – Produced “Invitation to Teaching: RSVP” – a 16mm motion picture designed to inform and recruit teacher education and DCE students for CSP and the colleges of the Synod at large. Distribution through CSP.

1981 – Co-produced (with Dr. Milton Rudnick) “Here’s To Life” – a 16mm motion picture about the mission and ministry at Concordia College – St. Paul, MN. Distribution through CSP.

1983 – Published a multi-image slide presentation entitled “A Night with Luther” which premiered at the 1983 international convention of the LCMS.  This slide presentation was distributed free of charge to the colleges and seminaries of the LCMS both here and abroad.  The presentation consists of over 300 slides accompanied by a cassette tape with narration on the life and theology of Martin Luther.

1983 – Produced a promotional video tape on the Director of Evangelism Program for Concordia College – St. Paul, MN.

1983 – Produced video tape entitled “Small Group Communication Techniques” for the Communication Department of Concordia College - St. Paul, MN.

1984 – Produced a multi-image slide presentation: The Life and Ministry of Dr. Oswald Hoffman for Concordia College’s day of celebration for Oswald Hoffman.  Also used as a promotion piece for the Oswald Hoffman School of Christian Outreach (OHSCO).

1984 – Produced and directed a video tape for the Development Office of Concordia College – St. Paul, MN.  The tape will be used to encourage scholarship donations and endowments.

1984 – Published “Enjoying Literature with Young Children” – March/April, 1984 edition of Lutheran Education.

1985 – Produced the multi-image slide presentation “Many Gifts One Lord” as part of President Alan Harre’s inauguration at Concordia College – St. Paul, MN.  This presentation was used as part of Concordia’s publicity/recruitment efforts in the fall of 1985.

1985 – Co-author/composer of the theme song for the 1986 Synodical Youth Gathering entitled “On Wings Like Eagles” (with David Christian and John Folkening).

1986 – Composed the music for the opening worship service/drama “Lifted Up” for the 1986 Synodical Youth Gathering (“On Wings Like Eagles”) held in Washington, DC.

1986 – Composed lyrics and music for a 1986 Synodical Youth Gathering (“On Wings Like Eagles”) song entitled “Trinity.”  This song was also published in the Youth Gathering Book and subsequent Synodical youth materials.  This song was used as the Creed in both the opening worship service and the final communion service of the gathering.

1986 – Published two hymns in The Advent Book (copyright © 1986 – LC-MS Board of Youth Ministry).  The hymns: “On Wings Like Eagles” (by Jeffrey E. Burkart, David Christian and John Folkening) and “Now Messiah Comes to Us” (Music: Copyright © 1986 by Jeffrey Burkart; lyric by Tim Frusti).

1988 – Created and produced video tape presentation for the LC-MS 1988 Great Commission Convocation entitled “The Face of Christ” (Copyright © 1988 by Jeffrey E. Burkart).  The 1988 GCC was held at the St. Louis convention center, St. Louis. MO.

1988 – Published two hymns in the Lift Up Your Hearts songbook (Concordia Publishing House ã 1988).  “Trinity” and “On Wings Like Eagles.”

1988 – Ph.D. Thesis published.  The Effects of a Developmental Kindergarten on Promotion to First and Second Grades.

1989 – Published “Tenebrae” – a drama written for the National Youth Gathering (Co-written with Mike Charron). LC-MS Board for Youth Services.

1990 – Composed and published “Hosanna to the Son of David” – Singing Saints Songbook III.   Published by Concordia Publishing House and the LC-MS Board for Youth Services.

1990 – Composed and published the music for “Now Messiah Comes to Us” (Christmas Hymn, text by Tim Frusti) in Youth Ministry Quarterly, Vol. 90, #4, 1990.

1991 – Published a devotion entitled “Rule Breaker.”   Published in Concordia College’s book of Advent meditations.  Concordia College, St. Paul, MN.

1992 &1993 – Published photographs of reformation sites in Christian History Issue 34 (Vol. XI, #2) & Issue 39 (Vol. XII, #3). (Note: Numerous photographs have also appeared in various publications of Concordia University, St. Paul.)

1997 (October 6-7) – Wrote and performed a new children’s television program for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod’s Satellite Service entitled “Storytime with Jeff and Bear.”  Program aired on 10/22/97.  LC-MS Satellite Service, LC-MS International Center Studio, St. Louis, MO.

1997 – Six Lenten Family Services with Children’s Messages & Three Lenten Mini-Dramas.  Published in Creative Worship for the Lutheran Parish – Series B – spring 1997.  Published by Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis.

1997 - (November 10-11) – Wrote and performed “Storytime with Jeff and Bear” – The Christmas Show, for broadcast on the LC-MS Satellite Service.  Program aired in December.   Produced in St. Louis, MO, at the LC-MS International Center Studio.

February 26-28 & March 1, 1998 – Wrote, produced, and directed Gospel Time in Gospel Rhyme IV: “No Room in This Tomb!”   Gospel Plays, Musicals, Songs and Stories written and directed by Jeffrey E. 1998 – Had two dramas published in the premier edition of W3 – Word, Witness, Worship.  This is a CD computer publication by Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

1998 – “Jesus is the Light.”  Text and tune published in 1998 Vacation Bible School Songbook entitled “Let’s Sing It!”  Concordia Publishing House, St Louis, MO.

1998-1999 – Published four articles in the “Sights and Sounds” column of Teachers Interaction Magazine (1998-1999 editions). Article titles: Children in Worship, Listening to History, Sights and Sounds of Spring, Let’s Take A Tour.  Published by Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

1999 – Was part of the acting troupe (played the part of the “father”) that was featured in the LWML “Prepare to Serve! Prepare to Care” Video Study Series.  Published by the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  Ruth N. Koch, Author and Host.

February, 1999 – Published theme song for new weekday curriculum (“Jesus’ Company”) from Concordia Publishing House entitled “We’re In Jesus’ Company!”  Published by Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

March 29, 1999 – Completed the composition of “In League with Our Lord.”  This is the new theme song for the International Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (ILWML) that was commissioned by the ILWML and premiered at the ILWML convention held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on July 1-4, 1999.  Minneapolis, MN.

April 13, 1999 – Published “Sow What!”  (a drama based on the parable of the Sower and the Seed) in Creative Worship for the Lutheran Parish, Series A, Part III, The Eight Sunday After Pentecost, July 18, 1999.  Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

April 14, 1999 – Published “New Lyrics for Love to Tell the Story” in two new hymnals from Augsburg Fortress Publishers.  The hymnals are LifeSongs, a children’s hymnal to be used in conjunction with the new Sunday School curriculum for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and This Far by Faith – African American Lutheran Hymnal, a book of worship resources emphasizing African American traditions.  Augsburg Fortress Publishers, Minneapolis, MN. 

October 5, 1999 – Published three Arch Books titled “Down Through the Roof” (the healing of the paralyzed man); “A Surprise in Disguise” (the two disciples on the road to Emmaus – this story will be translated into several foreign languages.  ); and “The Man Who Couldn’t Speak (the story of the naming of John the Baptist). Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

December 1, 1999 – “Don’t Get Burned!” – A Musical Based on the Story of the Three Men in the Fiery Furnace. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

April 27, 2000 – Wrote “The Hospital Zone” (a one-act drama in three scenes) for production by the LC-MS World Mission.  The drama was presented in video tape format and made available through LC-MS World Mission.  It premiered on April 28, 2000 at the LC-MS World Missions New Directions 2000 Conference in St. Louis, MO.

March 6, 2000 – Published “Don’t Throw That Service Bulletin Away!” in the “Sights and Sounds” column of the spring 2000 edition of Teachers Interaction Magazine (Vol. 41, No. 3, 2000).  Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

July 1, 2000 – Camel’s hair and Honey – An Arch Book based on the story of John the Baptist. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

July 25, 2000 – Published “Oh, Come, Lord Jesus”, a musical setting of the common table prayer, commissioned by the International Lutheran Women’s League.  Oh, Come, Lord Jesus will premier at the ILWML Assembly of Leaders Conference, November 9-12, 2000, Dallas, TX. 

August 1, 2000 – Published “Anyone Who Welcomes…” a song commissioned by Lutheran Special Education Ministries of Minnesota that will be premiered as part of this year’s Minnesota South District Lutheran School’s “Hearts for Jesus” campaign. “Anyone Who Welcomes…” is based on Matthew 18:5 and will officially premier in January 2001.

October 27, 2000 – Published a Worship Service and Worship Planning Guide for the 5th Sunday after Epiphany (Feb. 4, 2001 – including a reader’s theatre adaptation of Luke 5:1-11); musical score to accompany the Hearts for Jesus, Hope for China video tape; Jesus Cares for China’s Children (song commissioned by Wheat Ridge Ministries in association with the Michigan District’s 2000-2001 Hearts for Jesus, Hope for China Project); and Perfomance Notes and Teaching Suggestions for the Hearts for Jesus theme song, Jesus Cares for China’s Children.

March 8-11, 15-18, 2001 – Wrote, produced, and directed Gospel Time in Gospel Rhyme V: “Sure Can Use a Little Good News Again!”  E. M. Pearson Theatre, Concordia University, St. Paul, MN.  This is the fifth in a series of musical productions I have written and performed at Concordia University.  This year 12 performances plus a preview performance and chapel service were given – audiences totaled over 2800.)

July 1, 2001 – Published a CD of Christmas music titled, “O, Come, Emmanuel” Christmas Hymns, Carols, and Spirituals.  Piano and Synthesizer arrangements by Jeffrey. E. Burkart.  Recorded at RFJ Studio, St. Louis, MO and produced by ADS, Plymouth, MN.

July 5, 2001 – Published a CD for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League titled, “LWML 60th Anniversary Convention Favorites.”  The CD contains 12 favorite hymns and theme songs from LWML conventions.  It also includes two Burkart compositions that were commissioned for the LWML: In League with Our Lord (the 1999 LWML theme song) and O, Come, Lord Jesus (a setting of the common table prayer commissioned for the 2000 LWML Assembly of Leaders Conference in Dallas, TX).  Published by The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Summer, 2001 – Writer, producer, director for the “Good News Players” – A New Drama Ministry Touring Troupe from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN. 

June 15, 2001 –Led the Good News Players as they performed in chapel for students participating in the CSP’s OAR (Orientation, Advising and Registration) day.  The Weston Theatre (black box theatre), Concordia University, St. Paul, MN.  June 23-24, 2001 – Led the Good News Players as they performed for the Saturday evening service (plus a 30 minute performance after the service) and in three Sunday morning services at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Bloomington, MN.  July 1, 2001 – Led the Good News Players as they performed for two Sunday morning services and for 45 minutes between services during the Bible class hour at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Roseville, MN.  July 15, 2001 – Led the Good News Players as they performed for three Sunday morning services at Peace Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, MN.  I also served as guest organist and pianist for the services.  July 18-22, 2001 – Led the Good News Players on their tour of St. Louis Missouri.  Performed at:  Faith Lutheran, Oakville, MO (7/18); LC-MS International Center, St. Louis, MO and Concordia Lutheran Church, Kirkwood, MO, The Adam’s Mark Hotel Rose Garden Room, St. Louis, MO for Concordia Saint Paul’s alumni evening at the LC-MS National Convention (7/19); VBS closing for Concordia Lutheran Church, Kirkwood MO, Messiah Lutheran Church, Weldon Springs, MO (7/20);  Evening service at Concordia, Lutheran Church,  Kirkwood, MO (7/21) and three morning services at Concordia, Kirkwood on 9/22. July 25, 2001 – Directed the Good News Players home performance at Concordia University’s, E.M. Pearson Theatre. July 28-Aug. 1, 2001 –Led the Good News Players on their tour to the 2001 LC-MS National Youth Gathering, held in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Performed in six venues at the gathering.

August 18, 2001 – Published “Fishers of Men” – a theme song commission by Christ Community Lutheran School, Kirkwood, MO.  The song is based on Matthew 4:18-22 and will be used as the school’s theme song during the 2001-2002 school year.

August 21, 2001 - Published two items in the fall 2001 edition of Teachers Interaction – an article titled “A Powerful Paradox” (pg. 4 – Law/Gospel page) Volume 43, No. 1.  Published by Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

August 21, 2001 – “Anyone Who Welcomes”- a hymn commissioned for Lutheran Special Education Ministries (pg. 24).  Volume 43, No. 1.  Published by Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

September 27, 2001 – Published an article in Teachers Interaction: A Magazine for Today’s Sunday School Teachers titled: “What’s the Need?” (Law Gospel Page – winter 2001, Vol. 43, No 2, page 4). Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

November 30, 2001 – Piano arrangement of “Hark the Voice of Jesus Calling” and musical composition “O, Come, Lord Jesus” were both featured in the video “Open the Future” from Parabolic Productions of St. Louis, MN.  The Video was commissioned by Concordia Lutheran Church, Kirkwood, MO.

December 18, 2001 – New Lyrics to “I Love to Tell the Story” (copyright © 1988 by Jeffrey E. Burkart) were published as part of Celebrate! Pray! Praise! “I Love to Tell the Story” by Rev. Jeffrey Sippy as part of the worship service that was included in the Lutheran Women’s Quarterly (Vol. LX, NO. 1, pgs. 25-26 – Winter 2001).

January 2, 2002 – Published an article in Teachers Interaction: A Magazine for Today’s Sunday School Teachers titled: “Applying It to Life” (Law Gospel Page – spring 2002, Vol. 43, No 3, page 4). Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

May 16, 2002 – Two piano arrangements/performances (from my CD “O, Come Lord Jesus”) featured in the following: Arrangement/performance of “Hark the Voice of Jesus Calling” from the “O, Come Lord Jesus” CD  was featured in the video “Top Priority” for the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of the LC-MS; “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” from the “O, Come Lord Jesus” CD was featured in the video for the Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) booklet ads for the TV The Broadcast “Point of Truth.

July 1, 2002 – Publication of new lyrics to I Love to Tell the Story by Jeffrey E. Burkart in a new CD-ROM hymnal titled United in Song.  Published by Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.  The first printing will include 1,000 hymns, 291 of which are under copyright.

September 1, 2002 - “Anyone Who Welcomes” (song published as part of the LC-MS Rally Day 2002 Worship Service, “Holy Child - Holy Children” from Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

September 19, 2002 – Musical arrangements and performances of “Beautiful Savior”, “Lord of Glory”. “How Firm a Foundation” and “Simple Gifts”  from the compact disc recording “Oh, Come Lord Jesus” (Copyright © 2000 by Jeffrey E. Burkart) were used in the video, “A Christian Connection to All Generations…” for the Michigan Church Extension Fund, Ann Arbor, Michigan.  The video was produced by Parabolic Productions – St. Louis, MO.

October 3, 2002 – Completed the text of a hymn entitled “O, Father, Bless This Congregation” that was commissioned for the 150th anniversary of First Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cedarburg, WI.  The hymn reflects the congregation’s mission and 150th anniversary themes.  The tune used for the hymn is O DASS ICH TAUSEND ZUNGEN HATTE (Oh, That I Had a Thousand Voices).  Meter: 98 98 88

October 1, 2002 - Song, “Fishers of Men” published in the winter 2002 edition of Teachers Interaction.  Vol. 44 #2, winter 2002, page 25.  Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis. MO.

November 3, 2002 – Premiered “Upon This Festive Day”, a hymn written for the 40th anniversary of King of Kings Lutheran Church, Roseville, MN.

November 25, 2002 – Two hymn arrangement and my original composition (“Oh, Come Lord Jesus”) from my CD, Oh, Come, Lord Jesus (“There is a Balm in Gilead”, “Children of the Heavenly Father”, and “Oh, Come, Lord Jesus”) were used in the PowerPoint presentation for “Grace Place Lutheran Retreats” in their presentation to Thrivent Financial Services for Lutherans.  The arrangement of “This Joyful Eastertide” from my CD “O, Come, Lord Jesus was used in “One Mission” videos for the Department of Outreach Ministry of the LC-MS.

December 28, 2002 – Published an article titled “Religion on the Net” in the spring 2003 edition of Teachers Interaction Magazine.  (The Internet Connections Page - Vol. 44, No. 3, spring 2003, page 6.  Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.)

April 3, 2003 – Completed a hymn (text and music) commissioned for the 150th anniversary of the Eastern District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod entitled “Throughout All Generations.”

April 9, 2003 – Completed a song (text and music) commissioned for the 2003 District Convention of the Minnesota South District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod entitled “Our Mission Is Fishin’!” The song also forms the basis for a mini-drama, dramatic cantata, and/or puppet theater production to be used in churches and schools of the Minnesota South District.

August 8, 2003 –Published an article titled “The Bible Online” in the fall 2003 edition of Teachers Interaction Magazine.  (The Internet Connections Page - Vol. 45, No. 1, Fall 2003, page 6 and a brief article titled “Trick or Treat That the Poor Might Eat” in “The Teacher’s Toolbox”  page, p. 25).  Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

August 22, 2003 - Published the first of a two-part lead article for the summer 2003 edition of "HIGH POINTS" - a publication of the Lutheran Education Association's Secondary Education Network - entitled Preparing Chapel Services for the Secondary School. 

October 4, 2004 – Published an article on Fantasy Literature for the fall 2003 edition of "Family Talk" - a periodical published by CHP on fantasy literature entitled "Fantasy Literature and Your Child."  Family Talk – fall 2003 -Volume 7, Issue 1, pp1&3.  Published by Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO.

October 9, 2003 – Premiered an original chancel drama entitled “Can I Be Your Right Hand Man?” (based on Mark 10:35-45 & Matthew 20: 20-28).  The service also included an original “Klezmer”song entitled “Angel Chorus.”  Buenger Memorial Chapel, Concordia University, St. Paul, MN.

October 17, 2003 – Co-produced (with Douglas Hartford, Vice President for Advancement at CSP) and was featured artist on the CD entitled “Good Christian Friends” Music for alumni and friends of Concordia University, St. Paul.  This CD was a gift from CSP to alumni and friends of Concordia University who, thought their financial gifts to the Enlightening Individuals – Enriching Generations fund campaign, raised over $35,600,000.  Four of the 18 tracks on the CD were Burkart arrangements that included:  Go Tell It on the Mountain, Were Your There, Good Christian Friend Rejoice and Sing, and What Child is This?   The CD feature the Christus Chorus, The Concordia Concert Band, The Concordia Jazz Band, Dr. William Ford, Dr. John Eggert, Dr.  Monica Murry, Dr. Allan Mahnke, Dr. Katherine Schenk, and Prof. Shari Speer.

October 21, 2003 – Published “From Pinocchio to Christmas Eve: Drama in Our Lutheran Schools” (Part 1) in the Concordia Publishing House’s Enews for Schools.  The article can be found at the following web site: http://www.cph.org/newsletter/schools/03/oct/pinocchio.aspThis is the first part of an article that first appeared in New Dimensions: Music and the Arts in Lutheran Education (Concordia Publishing House, Volume 4, No. 1, Fall, 1995). November 3, 2003 – Wrote and performed a hymn used in conjunction with a chapel service led by Ben Freudenburg (guest chapel presenter) entitled “You Are the Salt of the Earth” (based on Matt 5:13-16).

November 11, 2003 -  Completed an Article Written for the January/February 2004 Edition of Family Connections, A Publication of Lutheran Hour Ministries, entitled “There’s More to Kissing and Making Up Thank Meets the Eye.”

November 13, 2003 – Premiered “The Mitey Widow” (based on the Story of the Widow’s Mite) chancel drama.  This play is another in the “Through Angel’s Eyes” series of chancel dramas that have been written and performed for chapel services at Concordia University as part of the Drama Ministry program at Concordia, St. Paul.  

November 19, 2003 - Completed the second part of a two-part lead article for the winter 2004 edition of "HIGH POINTS" - a publication of the Lutheran Education Association's Secondary Education Network - entitled Preparing Chapel Services for the Secondary School (Part Two of a Two Part Article). 

November 21, 2003 – Premiered a poem/song entitled “How Will We Wage Peace?” that was commissioned by the “Weapons of Choice: Creating a Community of Peace” committee as part of the “Song and Stories of Peace & Thanksgiving” event held at Concordia University’s Buetow Auditorium on November 21, 2003.

January 5, 2004 – Burkart piano/synthesizer arrangement of “Come Ye Faithful Raise the Strain” from his CD “Oh, Come, Risen One” was featured in “Baptism: The Journey of Life in Christ Parts 1-6.”    “Baptism: A Journey" is a 6 part teaching series on Baptism by Dr. Art Just produced by Parabolic Productions and distributed by Lutheran Visuals.

January 12, 2004 – Published “There’s More to Kissing and Making Up…” an article on forgiveness and spiritual renewal for Family Connection, a bimonthly publication of Family Connection, a ministry of Lutheran Hour Ministries.  January/February 2004 edition.

January 16, 2004 – Online publication of the second part of a two-part lead article for the Winter 2004 edition of "HIGH POINTS" - a publication of the Lutheran Education Association's Secondary Education Network - entitled Preparing Chapel Services for the Secondary School (Part Two of a Two Part Article).  Online publication can be found at: http://www.lea.org/forms/burkartchapel2.pdf .  The print publication will be available in the near future.

March 29, 2004 – Piano/Synthesizer arrangement of “Jesus Lives, the Victory’s Won” was used in a video production entitled “Boldly Proclaim” a mission video from Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lansing, MI.

November 18, 2004 - Piano/Synthesizer arrangements of This Joyful Eastertide, In League with Our Lord, There is a Balm in Gilead, Lord of Glory, You Have Bought Us, In Thee is Gladness, The Mustard Seed (original work), Oh, Christ the Same, from the CD “Oh, Come, Lord Jesus”  were used in a video project entitled “Kieschnick Convention DVD” (a DVD of the highlights of the 2004 Missouri Synod’s Convention held in St. Louis, MO.).

December 15, 2004 – Served as Artistic and Musical Director for the newly published, The Safari Adventure: Discover Jesus the King Song Action Video.  The video accompanies the Safari Adventure Vacation Bible School Program published by Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, MO. Copyright © 2005 by CPH.  Video taping was done in the Westlund Theatre at Concordia University, St. Paul, MN on July 16, 2004.

February 10, 2005 – Completed a hymn that was commissioned for the 125th Anniversary of Zion Lutheran Church, Marengo, Illinois. The hymn is entitled “To Ev’ry Corner of the Earth” and will premier sometime in April, 2005.

March 15, 2005 – Had several musical arrangements of hymns from “Oh, Come Risen One” album used on videos for the Lutheran Education Association 2005 Convention Video and the 2005 Lutherans for Life II video.  Published through Parabolic Productions, St. Louis, MO.
