John Roth
Guitarist/composer John Roth is Adjunct Professor of Music at Concordia University, where he teaches, guitar, electric bass, mandolin; Electronic Instruments, Techniques, and Pedagogy; Guitar Ensemble, Chapel Band, and oversees the electronic Midi-Labs.
Mr. Roth graduated from St. Olaf College in 1972, and embarked on a Christian World Tour with Outreach for Christ Foundation, International. He resumed studies at the University of Minnesota, receiving the Master of Fine Arts degree in Classical Guitar Performance. While at the University, he was privileged to study orchestration with Dominic Argento and composition with Paul Fetler. He performed in master classes with Christopher Parkening, Abel Carlevaro, and Alice Artzt.
Mr. Roth pioneered Classic American Guitar, a fusion of classical guitar technique with popular American idioms. Small Wonders, his debut record of original compositions, earned rave reviews from every major guitar magazine.
In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Roth serves as Director of Contemporary Worship for The Lutheran Church of St. Philip the Deacon in Plymouth, MN, where he leads the band Network.
