Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Dr. Michael J. Walcheski holds a B.A. degree in education from Concordia University- Saint Paul, a M.A. degree in counseling psychology, and Ph.D. degree in counselor education and supervision from Western Michigan University. He has earned specializations in Marriage and Family Therapy in both graduate degrees. He also holds certification as a director of Christian education in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
He is a member on the faculty of Concordia University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He serves as department chair of Graduate Studies in the College of Education. In addition, he is chair of the Human Subjects Review Committee and the Faculty Athletic Representative, NCAA Div. II.
Dr. Walcheski is co-author of 18 publications including journal articles, training monographs, and books. He has made 50 presentations at academic conferences and professional training. He has also conducted over 30 family life education seminars and workshops.
Dr. Walcheski is a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist; a Certified Family Life Educator through the National Council on Family Relations; a licensed marriage and family therapist in the states of Minnesota and Michigan; and a nationally certified parent educator.
Dr. Walcheski is a member of the National Marriage Friendly Registry, an approved clinical supervisor for the State of Minnesota's Board of Marriage and Family Therapy. He also is a member of the Minnesota Council on Family Relations. He serves as a member of the National Council on Family Relation’s Certification Review Committee.
